Screw Introductions, Im Fishy and heres my mod

Materials needed:
2 NF plunger rods fused together or rebel trooper plunger rod (preferred)
1 NF plunger head
1 medium sized wood screw
13/16 o-ring
A type of vinyl tape or duct tape
Thin wall 3/4 PVC
2 handyman springs
Silicon or your favorite type of Nerf gun lube
A small spring that will be used as catch spring
1 NF catch
1 NF shell (any version will do)
Sandpaper
Pliers
1 3/4 inch coupler and 1/2 coupler OR 3/4 coupler with 1/2 bushing

Whew that’s a lot of stuff
Let’s start now

If you did Bpsos mod (which I find fabulous) and messed up somewhere your in luck
First get the NF shell you raided for the plunger tube

Now get your springs and cut one of them down 2-3 rings put the NF catch onto the plunger rod and put the springs on it the rod as well. Now for the hard part, grab the NF plunger head and the screw and screw it on as tight as possible. If the head spins around this is fine, as long as it doesn’t wobble much. Now wrap with the duct ape around the plunger 1 or 2 times. Put one 13/16 o ring on it. It should look like this:

Congrats you just made the plunger rod assembly; it should look something like this:

But with all that power you need some reinforcement. Grab a metal bar or a cheap metal Allen wrench and glue it in.

Onto the plunger tube
I used 8 and 5/8s of inch of 3/4 thin wall PVC. You want to spray the insides of it will tons of silicon spray, and the o-ring too. Lube it up and glue the plunger tube to one side of the gun. Now grab a spring that you will use as the catch spring. It should be something heavier then the stock catch spring.  Now close the gun up.

Now for the barrel assembly you can use either the 3/4 coupler with a 1/2 one hammered in or a 3/4 coupler with a 1/2 bushing. The coupler on however is better for reload time as you don’t have to screw the barrel out. Use whatever barrel you like, the length for the barrel I use is about 5-6 inches with 1 inch of brass nested in the back of it.

I DO NOT HAVE RANGES! But they can compare to my big blast which gets an easy 100 feet.

Questions, comments, flames?
I was inspired by Kbarker as I wanted to make my own NF rifle and came upon making it possible when bpso put out his rebel blaster mod(found here) I thank bpso for putting that out there so I would buy the gun.

Thats freaking awesome!  shocked I need to but myself some new NFs! If I were you though, I would give the end of the plunger rod some super glue reinforcements.  Very nice nevertheless!

Its not 100 feet, my Big blast gets somewhere between 100-120 feet flat. And the Nitefinder gets maybe 105 feet. I mean one handyman spring has a compression weight of 24 pounds. I have 2 in it so it is going to be powerful, plus it has a 8 and 5/8th inches of a well sealed plunger tube.
Lets just call it 104.95 feet

Still, it's one of the most performance promising mods for the nf yet.

I don't know the dimensions of a Xbow plunger tube, but if it is similar then I think I can get more out of this thing.

An NF with a standard plunger can achieve 100ft ranges.  But I think that this mod can achieve 130ft with a very good seal and spring setup.

Still, it gets ranges comparable to a x-bow, and costs only 15 bucks..

But a crossbow has a stock, and holstering this isn't comparable.  But to show the power the NF SHELL possesses is a good accomplishment.

I mean one handyman spring has a compression weight of 24 pounds. I have 2 in it so it is going to be powerful.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but 2 springs in line would not double the compression strength, the strength would be the same, but over twice the distance. if it was one inside of the other then it would double.

VERRY good job though, Ill half to try this. laugh

4 springs?  Maybe a broken plunger head, or a cracked shell?

It's possible, but it would need a lot of reinforcement. I.e. steel rods epoxied/ super glued in the ridges along the plunger.
