I have thought up the ultimate weapon, and I only want comments in this thread if you know what I am talking about or have something to add about beta-decay, moral implications, or how to create a massive ridiculous amounts of W bosons.
The weapon would create W bosons to turn an object of sufficient mass into a mass of hydrogen. The W bosons would turn the neutrons in the object to protons and release electrons. So only a few isotopes and hydrogen would release because of the abundance of protons and electrons. So, if used on a planet, the planets mass would be changed into a cloud of hydrogen of the same mass. Wikipedia any fuzzy areas you have before you comment.

But why would we need to go up destroying planets? For fun?

That was an example, it would be more used for large ships or airborne vehicles. Or to use against the Formics (heh).

So you intend to annihilate objects by using radioactivity-controlling W bosons to convert them into hydrogen? Why? It seems so much easier and fun to blast stuff with munitions.

Could it be used to turn people into masses of hydrogen?

Seriously? Are you serious?
Creating such a weapon whould be highly expensive, not to mention dangerous. Are you really planning of building such a thing? This thread could get interesting to say the least. Turning people into hydrogen? Destroying planets? Who do you think you are? Darth Vader?!
I think I'll stick to Nerf, OH, and If George Bush is watching...This was NOT my idea.

Turing people into hydrogen would not be practical because it would affect the planet too. I do not want to build the weapon, but it is being developed. This is merely a moral discussion on the implications of the planet, such as it being held over the head of a planet by a terrorist.
