The only thing is that, once it is in there, you won't be able to rest your homemade on that endcap.
Bu otherwise, yes, that would be a fine place to put it.
No matter where you put it, just drill/dremel a hole (not too big; you don't want to be able to pull the valve all the way through) then pull the valve through from the inside to the outside.
You may want to use some rubber cement or something, too; it will help in case the hole was made a little too big, or asymmetrical. Just put the rubber cement around the base of the rubber valve stem, where it will be against the PVC.

I have made a little over 200 posts there, and about 1 was productive. My other 200ish posts were all crap. I joined in January this year, and I survived. Remember, I'm a silly person. You should be able to last forever, and I plan on doing that too.
