The ranges are almost certainly exaggerated to some degree; on the other hand, it may still be a pretty good modification. A guy called Precisionnerfer came to NerfHaven a while back. He sold modified blasters on eBay that, he claimed, got 100 feet. He sent one to Badger (a respected member of the Haven) for testing. The results were not up to the advertised standards, but it was still pretty good. See Badger's full report here. Now, that's not to say that all eBay sellers are semi-trustworthy; but, they're not all terrible. Unfortunately, Precisionnerfer got out of the hobby or I would tell you to buy off of him. Still, I prefer to modify my own blasters. It's half the fun of this hobby. So, in conclusion: check the eBay seller's *Censored* and buy if you think he/she is trustworthy, but if I were you I would just modify myself. You've got to start somewhere, and a Nitefinder is a great first project.

They usually get about 60ft no more. So no matter what he says, expect 50.

I would take Jwasko's advice. Modifying is half the fun of nerfing, and modding a Nitefinder would be a great place to start.
NFs are dirt cheap so don't be afraid to mess up. I'm sure everyone here has broken a gun or two on attempted mods. Even if you do mess up, you can come back here for some advice.
There are literally hundreds of NF mods around the net...don't forget...Google is your friend.

That's weird. As long as you take out all the screws, it should come off pretty easily.

Strange. If you take all the screws off it should pop right off. Don't force it.

M'not forcing it! I read once that if you had a yellow NF that you'd have "one heckuva time opening it".

Around the top by the rail and down by the ammo holder.
EDIT as of May 4 2008: Hey I'm pretty sure I can open it now. The barrel came (broke) off, and the dart holders are cracking bad so i'll just saw 'em off. Sadly theres always lots more bad news than good news. The reason it is so broken up is because I was pedaling my bike to my friends house for a war, and my bag of NERF guns got caught in my spokes, and about 1 hour later I had 5 stitches just under my left knee on a cut about 2 inches long and about 1/4 of an inch deep (I know thats not many stitches for a cut so big!). Oh well. It fires farther than my Sf though! Krazy......
