I like to shoot players from a distance and then rush them with a RF20 and a powerclip.

I just got a firefly....It needs some modding tho....It gets really sucky range.

Almost all FFs suck hairy balls.  I try to stay between the far sides of Sniping and Rushing, and just usually stick with a DTG, but if I want to I pick off people from a distance.

I use a tek 6 for range because: ...

It gets awesome Range(modded)
Fast rate of fire

Its as easy as that. ;D

What kind of ranges to you get with the Tek 6, and with what ammo?  The best primary out there has to be the X-bow or the Magstrike.

Because I live in Fl., I am rarely in a Nerf War. But when I am able to go to one, or host one, it is usually a small affair. My weapons choices vary as to whether I am indoors or outdoors, so I will start with that. When I am inside, I will usually use my RF20 or my PC as a primary and carry a Maverick or Nightfinder as a back-up. When I am outdoors, I tend to stick to a decent long-range weapon like a 3B or a soon to be Longshot. And my secondary will be a PC with a Nightfinder as a last resort gun.
When it comes to my playing style I like to be as stealthy as possible, and therefore I am usually all over the place and because of that I am able to set lots of ambushes up. I will also pull phycological ambushes on people like getting them into a small area then blasting heavy death metal music while me and others pick them off at a distance, this works very well in night wars. But basically, that is how I roll in a nerf-war.

So you have stereos in your trees?

My dad has this old stereo speaker system he gave to me, the speakers are on the small side but they are powerful enough to blare the music pretty loud. I throw them in two or three trees then lead the wires back to a certain spot that covers the area where I hook up my cd player to them, then I draw two or three people into that area and take em out while the music is playing. You gotta see there faces...

Yes, specifically the end of master of puppets where everybody starts laughing. I am working on remixing the song so it does the ending over and over again then transisions to for whom the bell tolls.

Now that I got my Magstrikes working, I have shifted into mainly ambushes.  Jumping out of a tree with a MS blaring is really scary, and besides that, because I can switch clips really easily, I can get out two full clips before I take 10 steps after hitting the ground.  The only problem I have with this tactic is that my buddy, who can hit a soda bottle from 100 feet with my LBB can pop me before I hit the ground sometimes.  It really sucks.

In a war, I always have my sm750 which is the longest range weapon out of the people I play with, so I take the role of sniper. I hide in bushes and snipe from far away.

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: Duck_slayer on February 09, 2007, 07:10:30 pm
Just a heads up the word sniper is frowned upon in nerf and if you post sniper on NHQ you'll get flamed something feirce.  The reasion being nerfguns don't have the range to actually have "snipers" so most prefer sharpshooter.  Just a heads up.

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: Lance on February 09, 2007, 07:15:23 pm
If they want to flame me because I used the term "sniper", then they are immature. I don't care what kind of range a nerf gun gets if your picking people off from a distance your sniping.

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: Duck_slayer on February 09, 2007, 07:19:51 pm
I realize this but I have seen people banned for using sniper too much.  I just don't want you to going on there and just starting looking for trouble I am trying not to get you banned or very badly disliked.

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: Duck_slayer on February 09, 2007, 07:46:33 pm
No on nh or nhq or a bigger forum you won't get banned here that easily.

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: jwasko on February 09, 2007, 08:59:41 pm
I'm with Lance on this one: even if it is actually a rather short range, the fact is that a person who shoots at long range compared to others can legitimately be called a sniper.

Still, Lance, you have to be really carefully on the big forums. Especially NH. I saw a guy get banned (until 2034, mind you) for a diet coke/menthose-powered nerf gun. Sure it was a stupid post but...I don't know.

Trying to get back on topic: My strategy is to...uh, I don't know... use cover, shoot as many darts as I can, and hope that I hit someone.

Mind you, I haven't had any real Nerf Wars since I was 13 (if not before then), and I never really had much of a strategy. I more so used spur of the moment tactics.

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: Lance on February 09, 2007, 09:23:20 pm
Aah the sweetness of agreements. Yes, NH seems a little bit harsh on how they handle things. Back on topic.. you should really go to a real war (Im not bragging, Ive never really been to one), but it would be cool if the people on this forum had a war.

Well you technically can't say "Sniper" on Nerf haven because is automaticlly changes the word into "loser".

But around here, you can say sniper as much as you want (within reason). I do agree with you taking down targets from long range is sniping.

it would be cool if the people on this forum had a war.

Without giving away too much info...I live in Pennsylvania. And I think I read that the clan that this forum is associated with is in Michigan (though I don't know how many active posters are in the clan; this forum is an open community, after all).

I don't know about others, but I certainly don't have the money (for gas or plane) to travel hundreds of miles. Too bad, though, since I would definitely like to attend.

To clarify: I support having a war, but would almost certainly be unable to attend.

Carrtoon reviewed the Tommy 20 over at NHQ and included a mod. It requires motor replacement, though.

He got 40 feet with it afterwards...not bad, I suppose, for a full auto blaster...It is fully automatic, right?

No, It is semi automatic.

Yeah, I found Carrtoon's video on that link I posted.

I'm still not sure how it works. Do the motors just create a constant stream of air, or do they some how simply push the darts forward?

If it's the air one, then I think it would be fairly easy to make full auto (if you wanted). Just set a motor to turn the rotary magazine, and a pressure switch on the trigger (like for the Nightfinder's light), and bam...full auto. In fact, though it would be complicated, you could make it chain fed!

Dang, I really want one of those now...there goes $20 plus tax (not counting modding materials)

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: robonerfer on February 27, 2007, 11:07:44 pm
it's powered by two little wheels.when you pull the trigger,  a little rod pushes the dart out of the barrel and into the wheels. that is how it shoots.

I got a Tommy 20 at KB Toys yesterday for $15 plus tax.

That's $10 off KB's regular price, $5 off of everyone else's (overpricing fiends!)

I also found two AT2Ks at Kohls (25% off), and an LBB for 6.24 (with tax!) at KMart.

Yeah...I'm a little Nerf obsessed...

Unfortunately, one of the AT2Ks currently does not work at all. I just got it open, so I'll have to see what's going on.

Title: Re: Tactics. What kind of player are you?
Post by: jwasko on March 05, 2007, 10:53:27 pm
The one isn't working at all. It seems that, when you pump it, the air comes out of the pump tube instead of going into the air tank.

It's not the pressure release valve, because I plugged it. I'm not sure whether to just return it, or try and replace the stock pump with a bike pump.

I think there was still one left at the store though...how much would you be willing to pay? Even with the sale, they cost $9 each...and then there's shipping...might be close to $20

Edit: I realized this is off topic. Sorry, Mega. Robonerfer, if you want to continue this talk of trading, post in the Trading thread, okay?  :azn:

Well you know that metal piece a couple inches long thats attached to one half of the cocking slides... I cocked it too hard and that broke off.

Then you're screwed unless you can find another rod the same size.

Oh. should I bother trying to  hotglue it... It probably wont be strong enough too. Well I think that the problem is internal... all I did was stretch the spring and took out air restrictor... If I fixed the internal problem I could use another metal piece to cock it...But I need to know the internal problem. It was hard to put this weird shaped piece back in place and I think I got it wrong. Do you think you know what piece im talking about... does anyone have a pic of the internal pics?

If you try anything, use epoxy.

I found several internal pics here:

If you want, take your pick and show us what piece broke and/or what piece you think you put in wrong or something, and maybe we can help.

Never stretch the springs, it kills them after a while of use.
