Title: Homemade Shotgun Design
Post by: younggunner on March 04, 2007, 11:10:57 am
I am designing a homemade shotgun. By using the word shotgun i am describing how it loads not that it shoots multiple darts. It will be using  rotating bolt like Bolt Sniper's BS-8 and the rest you can see from the pictures.

Welcome Younggunner!

Is this thing clip fed?

Not to take away from you Younggunner, but, yes, it is "clip fed." Actually, it will be a tube magazine.

yes like jwasko said it is tube fed. I based my loading design off of that of a real shot gun, if anyone doesn't understand there is a diagram at the bottem of this page labeled Pump-Action Shotguns(http://science.howstuffworks.com/shotgun5.htm). This describes how rel shotguns work but it should answere most questions

I tried making a 3d design in Google Sketchup because I thought it would be easier than a CAD program but I was wrong. So now I a making a 3D CAD design of the gun. I’ll put it up I when I finish.

It might be a while because of school but this summer I should have time finish the details in the design and start building.

I was planning to finish the design stage over spring break but instaed i got carried away with trying to single a hornet(which is almost done).

I had some free time so I made a CAD drawing of my shell.

Good luck Younggunner. Is your design still (basically) like the original MS Paint diagrams?

I know what you mean about not being able to get anything done during the school year. Once I'm done (only two weeks! ), it's going to be a marathon of Nerf modding and homemade-making as I get ready to go to PANO.

I wish you luck, making a gun with shells is going to be difficult. Finding all the correct parts could prove difficult as well.

And you CAD drawings are pretty darn cool too!

The CAD Pragram I found is free, its basically a company is trying to promote their product so they are giving out a light version for free till june 30. It is a light version of their full pruduct but it has more than everything you need(at least for designing nerf guns). here is the link if anyone wants to download it, http://www.cocreate.com/OneSpaceModelingPE.cfm, I have found it easy to use and it works well

I dont know I have never used autocad but i gues they have the same general purpose so they cant be too different

I know there are some programs were you have to type in commands for this one you dont you just have to select things with buttons

I finished the front portion if the bolt
(http://links.pictures.aol.com/pic?id=5e708AS7TFEqyI4s4eBgMmC8VnCtWjNE4Fo2v4xQp5Fd3Ig=&size=l)

and I started the back portion here is what I have so far
