Just to keep the site going I have decided to start a new contest.  Here are the rules-
1. Must be of a concept.
2. No flaming other entries.
3. Must be thought out.
4. Must not have been done before.
5. Must have a prototype.
6. Doesn't have to be perfect.

Prizes.

First prize:
Will be one Of Cole's modded or minimized NFs with specially machined parts, OR one of my new breech and magazine systems, OR more likely points and posts, and a TITLE!

Second Prize: 200 Points

If I manage to get my homemade shotgun prototype done, then I'll enter. But I still have to gather materials. It SHOULD be done by the end of July/ August. If I don't get it done in time, good luck to everyone who enters!

Actually, for the sake of fun and competition, why not do this contest every summer? That way, each year you see something new. Plus, the site will attract more and more people as the word is spread about the contest. Since most of these people are dedicated to winning the contest, they'll get interested in other parts of the site and you'll get huge amounts of people!

I was planning on doing a lot of competitions, I could re do this one next year if you want, but think about this one for now.

Yeah, doing more contests like this would really attract new users. I'd say go for it!

We have done two others.  I promised a prize in the first one one came to it.  No one even entered in the second one.

Here is another of my entries.  A longshot that doesn't use clips.  It uses a single shot breech through the jam door.  It gets 90 feet with bad darts and a loose barrel.  I can believe that it will get 140 when I get better darts and it is already very accurate.  And after I move nad find my camera I will post pics.

Well, I already have two concepts (the FBBLR and Viper) down in the Concepts/Ideas forum. I think the plunger design for the FBBLR, which I've completed, is fairly original. Additionally, I suppose I have a prototype for the Viper ready, but in two parts.

So, to get to the point, my question (and the point of this post) is: do I just need to post some photos and explanations of my prototypes, and I'm in? And also, are multiple entries allowed or should I just pick one?

PS: Sorry I haven't been around. Since school finished, I haven't been online much at all, and the fact that it's now through dial-up doesn't help. On the plus side, I have gotten a lot done. If my computer allows it, I'll upload pics and write write-ups.

I will almost definately be getting my Titan on Thursday, and I'm going to use a Water Bottle Coupler on it so I can take the breech loader off and fire the missile with the normal barrel. Just wanted to update you.

Hello strangers (and some familiar faces from NH).

I was linked to this site by Piney when he banned someone on NH (he said he didn't want to leave him "high and dry"). Then I saw this contest thread and was intrigued by the prize giving part. So here's my 2 original mods:

I'm currently working on a new fully automatic turret, and the internals have been completed (Finally!). All that's left is to build my own clipping system (I have a few concept ideas already and tested some classic gravity clips too), and the frame of the gun (going to HD today to do that part). If the gun works well, I'll ask my friend to record a test firing vid... then I just gotta learn how to make home vids and how to upload them...

Cool.  I don't have the technology at the time but would a Crossbow, RF20 (BOB style) and Splitfire/NF/Mav/DTG/LS/Scout count?  I do have it done, but I haven't got it shipped to Direct Threat for painting yet.  And yes, I am totally serious.  The RF20 is turret modded  (Bags Wildfire removable turret mod) and it has a backpack with the BOB's button trigger.

Oh God, man. How do you carry this all day in a war? Also, did you extend the deadline, because that would be great. My shotgun is kicking my a-- again with the fire control group, bolt seal (only a few isolated areas), and the carrier.

I covered the basic implementations of the backslash long ago, Cole. I was wondering how you would carry a Crossbow with an RF20 attached, plus the backpack air tank and spare turrets and not get tired in a war. I am also interested to see what configuration you mounted them in.

RF20 under Crossbow (Which now does not want to work) and SF/everything else mounting clip on the right.  Backpack with two main sections, one for RF20 Turrets (6) and ammo.  Maybe a Magstrike and magazines (8) too.  A DTG on my hip.  Not so bad, I can if I need to disconnect the RF20's backpack line and not use it, but whatever.

Is this contest over yet? Because, if it's not, I wouldn't mind adding another mod I finished yesterday.

End of Oct.  Yeah, I'm a lazy bum.  And with all these entries, I may give away an NF.  CPVC barrel, minimized or not, metallic cherry red paint, but not like firestrike red, better.  Original spring, bungees unlikely, bands likely.  Can hit 70s with good darts.  And it looks like Boomie is a shoe in to win.

Also, I think backseaters are the last ones chosen to become actual Admins, or at least they should be. It's the job of the individual to remind themself what the rules are before everyone jumps on them, though. A forum full of thread-campers, backseaters, people who can't type, and those who beg for promotions defeats the purpose of "Keeping the peace." Not to single anyone out, but that hasn't been reduced enough lately.

-Once we finally close this contest, we should not be allowed to vote for our own concept. If we can't limit this using a poll, we'll have to make a voting thread or, alternatively, pick someone as a vote collector and send PMs containing votes to him/her.

Of course we'd need to find someone trustworthy and/or a neutral third party. Mega's cousin sounds pretty good right now, as long as Mega doesn't submit any concepts.

Why don't we all just vote via third-party members or visitors. Pineapple, for example, is neutral, trustworthy, and fair (I don't know if we could use him if some of our contestants don't have NH or NHQ accounts). They would tally the votes and post them. This eliminates the problem with people voting for themselves. Even though we're honest (to an extent), it's still better to eliminate all doubt than to risk it. Even a non-poll topic in which we just post our votes might be biased, because posts can be edited and deleted.
