Hello. My name is Adam and i learned about modifying Nerf guns about 4 weeks ago when i was looking up prices for a Long Shot. My first modification was a maverick (bad choice) and it failed horribly. I recently received a Long Shot for Easter and I wish i could mod it but I am afraid it would turn out like the maverick. I am on the other hand, good at making Stefan darts. I made 100 of them in the past week and do not plan to do anything with them soon. Last, I do not have any fellow nerfers by me in MI. The closest person to a nerfer is my 4 year old brother who can barely aim a gun. Any advice to modifying Nerf guns would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do not, I repeat do not do the longshot next. Get a nightfinder. Then go to nerfhaven and go form's, modification, modification directory, and scroll down to nightfinder. Now go nut's.

Or a Tech Target gun. They are even easier because you don't have to worry about the electronics.
Try my mod in the mods section. wink

You could go with that, but it is so much more expensive.

Not really, and you get the target to shoot at when your parents tell you to stop shooting your little sister. angry

Welcome to the forum, Nerfingnoob/Adam!

In order to improve, I would suggest doing research (ie, just reading random threads at the Nerf Havem Nerf HQ, and here), and gaining some experience by doing basic mods on simple nerf guns. I recommend the NiteFinder, Big Bad Bow (a little expensive at $20 - $25, but still fairly simple), and Blast Bazooka.

Welcome to site.

If you want I mod a gun the Mav is a bad choice.... I've never successfully modded one! tongue

Get a Nitefinder.

Your from MI too! Awesome!

I really don't mean to offend anyone, but it seems to me that the Mav is fairly easy to mod if you read the several modification writeups.

And I don't mean just people on this forum. It seems like everywhere I go I read "I hate Mavs, they always break." or even "I've already killed 3 Mavs."

Or did you guys all try to do something fairly complex? I just did AR/peg removal, the mod to swing out the cylinder all the way, and I added a few pennies behind the spring.

Seriously, I would like to know what you guys did and/or attempted to do.

It wasn't my idea, I read about it on Nerf HQ. Still, you're welcome!

I think I only put about three, because I was afraid if I put too many it would be too hard to compress the spring and something would snap. Heck, my brother's Mav broke (it was the little block on the plunger that the slide catches on)when it was completely stock.

I only messed up my mav because I dropped the turret on the rest of the gun and everything flew out. I didn't know how to put it together. And I messed up the gluing of the turret.
