I'm not really sure....I don't really make mine any shorter than regular stock darts. Cole would probably have a explanation, lets wait for his opinion.

Yes I do.  They have less friction because they are smaller, but not short enough to maintain accuracy provided by the foam tail.  The longer the tail, the higher the risk of fistainling, but if it doesn't, it is fairly accurate, but a good 1in dart can be just as good.  You need Caulk Saver.  Look in the package and look for anything other than foam rope.  If it has rubber or something on it, its no good.  Try to get that.

Actually on the site it says Caulk Saver Foam Rope and on the bag it says Caulk Backing. Also, what do you guys think would be a good substitute for fishing weights, slingshot weights, and BBs. You think sand would work?

No, I don't think so.  .2gram Airsoft BBs may work, they have good size and weight.  You can get those at Wal-Mart.

I use .20 gram air soft bbs in my stefans, but remember to put 2 in it because 1 isn't heavy enough. Some work for me some don't, but i haven't made that many.

I've tried using all sorts a weights....You can't go wrong with steel BBs, they are the best. They are pretty cheap too, if you just use them for dart smithing they will last awhile.

I would not use pellets because they can be sharp and they sometimes have lead in 'em.

Fortunately, the other day I went to my old friend's house on the way back from Colorado and he had stefans made out of the same FBR I bought. I also realized how good the weight  can be; when compared to my unweighted CDTS' it totally pned them in accuract, range, and armor piercing-ness (it went through both sides of a BBB box, the CDTS only made a dent). The real stefan had the weight fly out the front and hit a drumset, so I...relieved my friend of it for a sample so I can find the right weights later on.

P.S. This friend had a what I think is a Double Crossbow and an old 4 shot Larami Springer with no barrels (it had the barrel post air delivery system).  It was pretty cool to see some old guns.

Ha double crossbow being good!  Nice joke.  The springer was probably a SM250 or 350.

I'm about to do Captain Slug's method, I just have to wait for the stuff from McMaster. I'll give a review, if you want me to.
Mega, you can mod guns now, right? I'm assuming that since the start of this topic, you've started modding?
